Computers by Fujitsu

Fujitsu grew from a 1935 communications-equipment company into one of Japan's most important computer manufacturers. Its work ranged from mainframes and business systems to semiconductors, storage and personal computers, giving the company a broad influence on Japan's information-technology industry.

Fujitsu entered the personal-computer market with the FM-8 in 1981, followed by the popular FM-7 family. In 1989 it launched FM Towns, an advanced multimedia computer built around a 32-bit processor, CD-ROM drive and rich graphics and sound. The company's later FMV range helped carry Fujitsu into the era of mainstream PC-compatible systems.
