Fujitsu FM77AV20

The Fujitsu FM77AV20 updated the original AV with 640KB floppy storage while retaining its 4,096-colour graphics and FM sound. It was the more affordable member of Fujitsu’s second AV generation.

Compatibility with FM-7 and FM77AV software preserved the established library, while revised hardware made disk-based games and creative applications more practical.

Notable Features
  • Upgraded the AV family to 640KB floppy disks.
  • Retained 4,096-colour graphics at a lower price than the AV40.
Historical Significance
  • Extended the FM77AV platform for mainstream home users.
  • Served as the basis of the later AV20EX.
Collector’s Notes
  • AV20 drive count and memory can vary by configuration.
  • Do not confuse it with the faster AV20EX introduced in 1987.
