Fujitsu FM Towns II UX

The Fujitsu FM Towns II UX placed the Towns multimedia platform into a compact all-in-one system with a built-in 10-inch Trinitron display. Its 386SX processor lowered cost and heat while retaining CD-ROM, floppy and Towns software compatibility.

The integrated monitor and front-mounted drives made the UX practical for homes and schools with limited desk space. Configurations varied in floppy count and hard-disk storage.

Notable Features
  • Compact all-in-one design with a built-in 10-inch Trinitron display.
  • Preserved Towns multimedia compatibility using a lower-cost 386SX.
Historical Significance
  • Introduced the FM Towns II name and broadened the platform’s domestic appeal.
  • Created the all-in-one branch later continued by the UG and UR.
Collector’s Notes
  • Power-supply capacitors and the integrated CRT require careful inspection.
  • UX suffixes distinguish floppy and hard-disk configurations.
