Biography

Davis Jansons is a British software developer who wrote most of the system software for the Camputers Lynx. A mathematics graduate, he joined GW Design Services in 1982 when the company began creating its own home computer.

Because the Lynx hardware did not yet exist, Jansons initially developed code on Tandy TRS-80 and Nascom systems. He worked alongside hardware architect John Shirreff as the first prototype was assembled, bringing up the firmware and adapting the software as the unusual bank-switched graphics architecture took shape.
Jansons produced the Lynx’s ROM software and BASIC environment under the same compressed schedule as the hardware team. His wife, Sue Jansons, wrote the user manual. Together their work turned the prototype into a system that could be demonstrated, programmed and sold when Camputers launched it in 1983.
