David Shannon "Dave" Morse was an American technology executive and one of the founders of the company that created the Amiga. After working in marketing and management at Tonka Toys, he joined the new venture Hi-Toro in 1982 and became its president and chief executive. The company soon adopted the name Amiga.
Morse worked with Jay Miner to assemble and protect the engineering team behind the Lorraine project. He helped secure financing, guided the company through the difficult transition from a proposed games machine to a complete personal computer, and kept development moving as the early prototypes demonstrated the system’s custom graphics, sound and multitasking capabilities.
When financial pressure threatened the project, Morse helped negotiate the deal through which Commodore acquired Amiga in 1984. The resulting Amiga 1000 was launched in 1985. He later worked at Epyx and helped with the project that became the Atari Lynx, then co-founded Crystal Dynamics in 1992.
