Yamaha was founded in 1887 and built an international reputation in musical instruments, audio equipment and electronic sound technology. Its computer designs naturally concentrated on the point where home computing and music production met.
Yamaha’s MSX systems included general educational machines and the influential CX music-computer family. The CX5M paired a standard MSX computer with Yamaha FM synthesis, MIDI and optional music keyboards, providing an accessible composition and sound-design platform during the 1980s.
