Philips is a Dutch electronics company founded in Eindhoven in 1891. Its long experience with televisions, recording technology and professional electronics led naturally into personal computing at the start of the microcomputer era.
The P2000 family served homes, schools and small businesses in the Netherlands before Philips became one of Europe’s leading MSX manufacturers. Systems such as the VG 8020, VG 8235 and professional NMS 8250 series helped establish MSX in Europe, while the NMS 8280 added unusually advanced video digitising and superimposition facilities.
