Toshiba Pasopia 7

The Pasopia 7 was a Japanese home computer with a Z80A processor, colour graphics, programmable sound and Microsoft BASIC. Its keyboard console supported cassette and disk storage plus expansion for business and hobby use.

It was Toshiba’s principal pre-MSX home computer and competed in Japan’s diverse early-1980s domestic market before the company adopted the MSX standard.

Notable Features
  • Multiple text and bitmap display modes
  • Programmable colour palette and PSG sound
  • Expansion support for disk and communications hardware
Historical Significance
  • It was Toshiba’s principal pre-MSX home computer and competed in Japan’s diverse early-1980s domestic market before the company adopted the MSX standard.
Collector’s Notes
  • Japanese documentation and proprietary peripherals are important because the Pasopia 7 had little distribution outside its home market.
  • Memory, storage, displays and expansion hardware should be documented because configurations often changed during a system’s working life.
