Compaq SystemPro

The Compaq SystemPro was a high-end network server designed around one or two Intel 80386 processors, large memory capacity and Compaq’s 32-bit EISA expansion bus.

It was a major early industry-standard server and helped establish EISA as an open alternative for high-performance PC expansion after IBM introduced Micro Channel.

Notable Features
  • Single- or dual-processor server architecture
  • 32-bit EISA expansion
  • Fault-tolerant storage and large-memory options
Historical Significance
  • It was a major early industry-standard server and helped establish EISA as an open alternative for high-performance PC expansion after IBM introduced Micro Channel.
Collector’s Notes
  • Complete examples are large and uncommon; exact processor, memory, controller and drive configuration is central to documenting one.
  • Memory, storage, displays and expansion hardware should be documented because configurations often changed during a system’s working life.
