Torch 750

The Torch 750 was the higher-capacity companion to the 725 Professional workstation. It retained the integrated multi-processor architecture, 1MB memory and dual software environments while increasing fixed storage to 53MB.

Network and optional telecommunications versions targeted larger business and technical installations where shared data and Unix development demanded more local disk space.

Notable Features
  • 53MB hard disk offered substantially more capacity than the 725.
  • Combined 6502, Z80 and 68000 processing in an integrated workstation.
  • 750T configuration added telecommunications facilities.
Historical Significance
  • The highest-capacity integrated development of Torch’s BBC-derived Professional line.
  • Preceded the company’s clean-sheet Triple X and Quad X Unix workstations.
Collector’s Notes
  • Distinguish the 750 and 750T by their communications equipment and model markings.
  • Original 53MB disk mechanisms are rare and may need specialist preservation.
