The Sord IS-11 was a battery-powered portable computer with built-in word-processing, spreadsheet, file-management and communications software. Instead of floppy disks, the original model used non-volatile memory and a microcassette drive built into its compact clamshell case.
Its eight-line LCD and light weight suited field work rather than conventional desktop software. Later IS-11B and IS-11C revisions expanded memory and display capabilities while preserving the appliance-like approach.
