Sinclair ZX Spectrum +2B

The Sinclair ZX Spectrum +2B was a cost-reduced revision of the black +2A manufactured late in the Spectrum's commercial life. It retained the 128KB memory, built-in cassette recorder, full-travel keyboard and four-ROM firmware arrangement.

Most changes concerned motherboard integration and manufacturing rather than new user features. The model remained in production after the disk-based +3 was withdrawn, serving as the final widely sold tape-based Sinclair Spectrum.

Notable Features
  • Cost-reduced motherboard revised the +2A design without changing the main advertised specification.
  • Retained the black case and integrated cassette deck.
  • Four-ROM firmware supported +3, 128K and 48K environments.
Historical Significance
  • One of the final production revisions of the original ZX Spectrum family.
  • Continued after the +3 disk model left Amstrad's range.
Collector’s Notes
  • External appearance closely matches the +2A, so the rear label and motherboard identify the revision.
  • Power and peripheral cautions for the +2A/+3 architecture also apply.
