The MGT SAM Coupé was a British 8-bit home computer conceived as a sophisticated upgrade path for ZX Spectrum owners. Its 6 MHz Z80B, bank-switched memory, enhanced colour graphics and six-channel stereo sound greatly extended the familiar Z80 architecture.
Designed by Miles Gordon Technology in Swansea, the Coupé could accept one or two slim internal 3.5-inch drives and included MIDI, mouse and light-pen interfaces. Spectrum compatibility helped users bring older software forward, while SAM BASIC and four native display modes supported more ambitious new programs.
