HP 95LX

The HP 95LX put an MS-DOS-compatible computer and Lotus 1-2-3 into a pocket-size clamshell. Its keyboard, calculator keypad and long battery life targeted mobile business users.

It helped establish the practical palmtop PC and led to the more compatible HP 100LX and 200LX.

Notable Features
  • Lotus 1-2-3 and personal-information tools were built into ROM.
  • PCMCIA memory cards expanded storage without a disk drive.
Historical Significance
  • It helped establish the practical palmtop PC and led to the more compatible HP 100LX and 200LX.
Collector’s Notes
  • Original HP manuals, peripherals and software media are particularly useful because many interfaces and formats were proprietary.
  • Memory, storage, displays and expansion hardware should be documented because configurations often changed during a system’s working life.
