HP-87

The HP-87 combined the Series 80 architecture with a larger 80-column built-in display and expanded memory capability. It retained the integrated style of the HP-85 while supporting more professional applications.

It was the high-end all-in-one member of the original Series 80 family.

Notable Features
  • The larger display supported 80-column text and improved graphics.
  • HP-IB provided access to extensive disk, printer and instrument peripherals.
Historical Significance
  • It was the high-end all-in-one member of the original Series 80 family.
Collector’s Notes
  • Original HP manuals, peripherals and software media are particularly useful because many interfaces and formats were proprietary.
  • Memory, storage, displays and expansion hardware should be documented because configurations often changed during a system’s working life.
