Commodore Amiga 2500UX

The Amiga 2500UX combined an accelerated A2500 with SCSI storage and Commodore’s Unix System V-derived AMIX operating system. It could also boot AmigaOS for ordinary Amiga applications.

The model was Commodore’s first purpose-packaged Unix workstation and a precursor to the A3000UX.

Notable Features
  • AMIX required the 68030 memory-management unit and suitable SCSI storage.
  • Factory Unix media and manuals are particularly significant.
Historical Significance
  • The model was Commodore’s first purpose-packaged Unix workstation and a precursor to the A3000UX.
Collector’s Notes
  • Chipset and motherboard revision, Kickstart ROM, RAM expansion, accelerator cards and original keyboard or mouse should be documented.
  • Memory, storage, displays and expansion hardware should be documented because configurations often changed during a system’s working life.
