Commodore 64C

The Commodore 64C placed compatible C64 hardware in a lower, angular case styled to match the Commodore 128 generation.

It kept the C64 commercially viable through the late 1980s and early 1990s while internal boards became smaller and cheaper.

Notable Features
  • The redesigned case is its defining visible feature.
  • Later short boards use revised VIC-II and SID chips.
Historical Significance
  • It kept the C64 commercially viable through the late 1980s and early 1990s while internal boards became smaller and cheaper.
Collector’s Notes
  • Board revision, regional video standard, power supply, keyboard legends and original accessories should be recorded.
  • Memory, storage, displays and expansion hardware should be documented because configurations often changed during a system’s working life.
