Camputers Lynx 96

The Camputers Lynx 96 expanded the original machine to 96KB, providing more working and display memory for larger BASIC programs and disk software. It retained the 4MHz Z80A, high-resolution colour display and distinctive memory architecture of the Lynx 48.

With the optional 5.25-inch floppy system, the additional memory allowed CP/M to run alongside Camputers BASIC. The model was aimed at more serious programming and small-business users.

Notable Features
  • 96KB memory configuration expanded the original Lynx architecture.
  • Optional floppy hardware enabled CP/M as well as native BASIC software.
  • Retained 256 x 252 eight-colour graphics and 6-bit DAC sound.
Historical Significance
  • Moved the Lynx range toward the disk-based and professional market.
  • Shows Camputers’ effort to distinguish the platform through unusually generous memory.
Collector’s Notes
  • The 96KB machine uses the 48KB design with revised RAM devices and a daughterboard.
  • Original disk interface and CP/M media are especially desirable.
