Atari TT030

The Atari TT030 was Atari’s high-end 32-bit workstation, built around a 32 MHz Motorola 68030 and a 68882 floating-point coprocessor. It expanded the ST architecture with fast TT RAM, SCSI storage, VME expansion and new graphics modes including 1280x960 monochrome.

Released in 1990 for publishing, CAD, scientific and development work, the TT ran TOS 3 while maintaining substantial compatibility with ST software. Its powerful processor and broad interfaces made it Atari’s most ambitious conventional computer before the Falcon030.

Notable Features
  • 32 MHz Motorola 68030 with a Motorola 68882 floating-point coprocessor.
  • Added fast TT RAM, SCSI, VME expansion and workstation display modes up to 1280x960 monochrome.

Historical Significance
  • Marked Atari’s move into higher-performance professional workstations in 1990.
  • Targeted publishing, CAD, development and scientific users who needed more speed and memory than the ST family.
Collector’s Notes
  • RAM, hard-disk and monitor configurations vary considerably.
  • The dedicated high-resolution monochrome monitor and VME accessories are significant additions to a complete system.
