The Apricot XEN-i 386/45 brought Intel’s 32-bit 80386 architecture to Apricot’s professional computer range. It combined a high-capacity hard disk and expandable memory with the company’s restrained workstation styling for demanding office, engineering and network use.
Unlike the earlier proprietary Apricot designs, the XEN-i generation followed the increasingly standard IBM-compatible software and expansion environment. It shows Apricot’s transition from inventive alternative architecture to high-performance professional PC manufacturer.
