Apple Macintosh Quadra 800

Apple Macintosh Quadra 800 was introduced in 10 February 1993 as a compact high-performance 68040 tower with room for internal CD-ROM and multiple drives. It used a Motorola 68040 at 33 MHz with 8MB standard; expandable to 136MB. 33MHz 68040 matched the Quadra 950 in many tasks.

Its capable but difficult-to-service enclosure became the basis of several later Quadra and Power Macintosh towers.

Notable Features
  • 33MHz 68040 matched the Quadra 950 in many tasks.
  • Three NuBus slots and built-in Ethernet supported professional expansion.
  • Internal layout was densely packaged and notoriously awkward to service.
Historical Significance
  • Its capable but difficult-to-service enclosure became the basis of several later Quadra and Power Macintosh towers.
  • Its place in the range reflects Apple's progression from the original compact Macintosh toward broader professional, educational and portable markets.
Collector’s Notes
  • Brittle internal plastic clips and drive rails require especially careful disassembly
  • Original keyboards, mice, storage devices and model-specific accessories help document a complete period configuration.
