The Apple iMac G4 17-inch expanded the flat-panel design with a 1440 x 900 widescreen display in July 2002. The larger panel retained the articulated arm and white hemispherical base while configurations progressed from an 800 MHz G4 to 1.25 GHz.
Later USB 2.0 revisions also introduced faster graphics and AirPort Extreme support. Those updates remain part of the 17-inch model’s evolution rather than separate cosmetic variants.
