Apple IIc Plus

The Apple IIc Plus was the fastest and final compact member of the 8-bit Apple II family. A 4MHz 65C02 processor and built-in 800KB 3.5-inch floppy drive provided major performance and storage improvements while retaining broad IIc compatibility.

The power supply moved inside the redesigned case, eliminating the external brick. Introduced as Macintosh and Apple IIGS sales grew, the IIc Plus was sold only in the United States and had a relatively short production life.

Notable Features
  • 4MHz processor ran almost four times faster than the traditional Apple II clock.
  • Built-in 800KB 3.5-inch drive replaced the IIc's 5.25-inch mechanism.
  • Internal power supply simplified the compact desktop setup.
Historical Significance
  • The final new 8-bit Apple II model and the fastest computer based on the classic architecture.
  • Combined mature Apple II compatibility with storage and styling closer to contemporary Macintosh systems.
Collector’s Notes
  • The IIc Plus was officially sold only in the United States and is less common than the original IIc.
  • Its 3.5-inch drive and internal power supply require model-specific parts.
