Acorn DeskLite Prototype

The Acorn DeskLite was a very small late network-computer prototype built around the ARM7500FE. Its compact vertical enclosure provided Ethernet and only the essential display and input connections for a managed desktop client.

Produced in extremely small numbers near the end of Acorn’s workstation operation, it represents the final reduction of the NetStation idea into a simple thin client.

Notable Features
  • The main processing arrangement was ARM7500FE.
  • Its standard memory provision was Memory specification not confirmed.
  • The model’s storage arrangement was Network-based storage.
Historical Significance
  • Produced in extremely small numbers near the end of Acorn’s workstation operation, it represents the final reduction of the NetStation idea into a simple thin client.
  • This entry represents a distinct processor, storage or enclosure design rather than a software bundle.
Collector’s Notes
  • Surviving examples are scarce, and fitted boards, firmware and storage may differ from announced specifications.
  • Original documentation, peripherals and prototype provenance are particularly important for specialist Acorn systems.
