The Acorn BBC Master 128 modernised the BBC Micro architecture with a 65C12 processor, 128KB RAM, expanded ROM software, cartridge slots and a numeric keypad. It integrated the disc hardware that had commonly been optional on earlier models.
The Master 128 became Acorn’s principal 8-bit education computer and the base platform for several specialised co-processor versions.
