Tadao Kashio founded the business that became Casio after the Second World War. Working with his brothers Toshio, Kazuo and Yukio, he moved from practical mechanical inventions into electronic calculation, leading to the compact all-electric 14-A calculator introduced in 1957.
Casio’s calculator expertise expanded into watches, musical instruments and personal computers. Although later engineering teams created systems such as the FP and MSX ranges, Tadao Kashio’s emphasis on useful, compact and affordable electronics shaped the company that produced them.
