Biography

Alan Miles worked at Sinclair Research before the sale of its computer business to Amstrad. In 1986 he met hardware designer Bruce Gordon and the pair formed Miles Gordon Technology, initially working from Miles's garage in Cambridge.

Miles concentrated on the commercial and marketing side while Gordon led hardware development. Their first products, the DISCiPLE and +D, gave ZX Spectrum users practical floppy-disk and printer interfaces and established MGT within the active Spectrum community.

Miles then helped raise funding and bring the SAM Coupé to market in 1989. When MGT entered receivership, he and Gordon bought its computer assets and continued the machine briefly through SAM Computers.
