Pioneer Corporation was founded in Tokyo in 1938 and became internationally known for audio equipment, car electronics and optical-disc technology. Its pioneering work with LaserDisc led to a small but historically important range of interactive computers.
The PX-7 and PX-V60 combined the MSX home-computer standard with Pioneer’s LaserDisc control and video-overlay technology. Using P-BASIC and compatible players, software could coordinate computer graphics and program logic with analogue video for education, presentations and entertainment.
